Job Title: Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Med Surg)

Location: Brooklyn, NY 11212

Schedule: 3 days/week, 11.5-hour shifts

Pay : $54- $56(hourly)

• Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 8:30 PM
• Night Shift: 8:00 PM – 8:30 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients.
• Diagnose and treat patient responses to actual and potential health problems.
• Deliver care in accordance with established standards, hospital policies, and multidisciplinary care plans.
• Supervise patient care provided by LPNs, nursing attendants, technicians, and other nursing personnel.
• Ensure documentation and communication of the patient’s condition, response to treatment, and significant changes.
• Participate in patient teaching, discharge planning, and age-specific care.
• Contribute to quality improvement activities and professional development initiatives.
• Serve as a preceptor and clinical resource to students and new staff.

Required Qualifications:

• Education: BSN required
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred, new grads considered
• Certifications:
• BLS (required)
• ACLS (preferred)
• Board Certification (preferred)

• Skills:
• Proficiency in managing patients with orthopedic, vascular, urology, and bariatric surgical needs
• Competence in vent/tracheostomy care, gastrostomy tubes, and wound care
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Familiarity with BHMC’s electronic medical records and healthcare systems
